Arrival & the essentials
Nuwan lives on the ground floor and hands over keys in person. If you're arriving late or your plans change, send a message ahead and he'll wait up for you.
Getting in
- Park inside the gate — there's space for two cars and several tuk-tuks.
- Your apartment key opens both the main door and your unit. A spare lives with Nuwan.
- The gate is locked at 11:00 pm; press the buzzer by the gate if you're out later and someone will let you in.
Around your apartment
Air-conditioning & fans
Every bedroom has a split AC unit — the remote is on the wall bracket. Please switch it off when you head out for the day. Ceiling fans run on the wall switches by the door.
Kitchen
Your apartment has a full kitchen — a gas cooker, fridge and the basic pots, pans and crockery you'll need. Gas is turned on at the cylinder valve under the counter.
Water & power
Tap water is for washing only — we leave bottled drinking water in the fridge and refill it daily. Power cuts are rare but if one happens, torches are in the kitchen drawer and it usually returns within the hour.
The garden & parking
- The garden is yours to use — sit out under the trees any time of day.
- Park inside the gate; there's space for two cars and a few tuk-tuks.
- Please keep the gate shut so the garden stays a calm, private spot.
House rules
- No smoking inside the apartments — the balcony and garden are fine.
- Quiet hours are 10:00 pm – 7:00 am out of respect for other guests and neighbours.
- No unregistered overnight guests; let us know if your numbers change.
- Please save water and switch off AC, lights and fans when you go out.
Nearby & worth a trip
Right here in Kantale
The Kantale tank is a five-minute walk — best at sunset. There's a good local bakery two streets over and a Sunday market near the junction.
Day trips
- Nilaveli & Uppuveli beaches — about an hour; white sand and calm water.
- Pigeon Island — snorkelling and reef, boats from Nilaveli.
- Fort Frederick & Koneswaram Temple — in Trincomalee town, ~50 minutes.
- Hot springs at Kanniya — a short detour on the way to Trinco.
Want a driver for any of these? Ask Nuwan the evening before and he'll arrange a fair fixed price.
Before you check out
- Pop used towels in the bathroom and leave the keys on the kitchen counter.
- Switch off the AC, fans and gas at the cylinder.
- No need to strip beds or wash up — that's on us. Just leave it tidy.
Anything at all during your stay, knock on the ground floor or call the host line. We're glad you're here.
